Questions
Is my voice uploaded?
No. Vlow is local-first: speech recognition runs on your computer. Cloud polish is optional — only when you turn it on is the recognised text sent to Vlow’s Cloud polish service. With it off, Vlow uses the on-device result (or local polish). Your recordings are never uploaded.
Which systems are supported?
Mac (Apple silicon, macOS 14+) and Windows 10/11 (x64).
How does it work?
Press your talk key in any app and start talking (F2 on Mac, Right Ctrl on Windows by default). A floating one-line capsule shows confirmed text in white and still-recognising text in blue. When you finish, polished text is pasted into the current app. Measured: a 2-minute recording produced polished text about 1 second after stopping (Apple silicon).
What output modes are there?
Eight tidy-up modes: Verbatim, Clean up speech, AI Prompt, Git commit, Task list, Tech doc, Translate and Custom — plus five tones (Casual, Natural, Written, Formal, Very formal) and custom tones.
What is Cloud polish, and how is it different from local polish?
Cloud polish is provided by Vlow and included in Pro — there’s nothing to set up. With it on, Vlow uses Cloud polish first and local polish as a backup when you’re offline or out of monthly quota. Turn it off and tidying happens entirely on your computer. Local polish is in Beta and currently supports the Clean up speech mode only.
What are “Note this down” and “Calculate”?
Say “note this down…” and Vlow saves it as a quick note. Say “calculate…” and the sum is worked out on your computer and the answer shown right away.
What is Do, and when is it coming?
Start with “help me” — for example “help me open Safari” or “help me find the file called contract”. Vlow shows a preview first, and once you confirm, your computer’s own system commands do the work. Do is coming in the next version and isn’t in the current release; screen recording, multi-step actions and custom commands are planned.
What does F3 do?
Select some text, press F3 and say how to change it (for example “make it more formal”). Vlow rewrites the selection accordingly.
How much does it cost?
Dictation is free forever.
