Vlow / USE CASE · LOCAL DICTATION
A local-first dictation app for Mac.
Vlow is a voice-first desktop assistant, and dictation is where it starts. Press F2 in any Mac app, speak, and clean text is pasted at your cursor. Speech is recognised on your Mac; Cloud polish, included with Pro, tidies it up only when you switch it on. Just say it. Done.
What “local-first” means here
Recognition happens on-device. With Cloud polish on, only the recognised text is sent to Vlow’s Cloud polish service — never your recordings. Leave it off and Vlow uses the on-device result (or local polish, in Beta).
Fast enough to keep up
Measured: a 2-minute recording produced polished text about 1 second after stopping (Apple silicon).
More than dictation: Write · Note · Calc · Do
Write with eight tidy-up modes (Verbatim, Clean up speech, AI Prompt, Git commit, Task list, Tech doc, Translate, Custom), five tones and F3 voice rewrite. Say “note this down…” for quick notes and “calculate…” for on-device voice calc. Do — “help me…” actions with a preview before anything runs — is on the roadmap for the next version.
On Windows too
The same talk-key workflow runs on Windows 10/11 (x64), with Right Ctrl as the default talk key. One Pro licence covers up to 2 computers, Mac or Windows.
How to
- Put your cursor in any text field
- Press F2 and talk — white text is confirmed, blue is still being recognised
- Stop, and polished text is pasted into the current app

FAQ
What do I need?
A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later. Vlow also runs on Windows 10/11 (x64).
Is it fully offline?
Vlow is local-first: recognition always runs on your computer. Cloud polish is optional and included with Pro — only when you turn it on is the recognised text sent to Vlow’s Cloud polish service. Turn it off and tidying stays on your computer.
Do I need to set anything up for polishing?
No. Cloud polish is provided by Vlow and included with Pro — there’s nothing to configure.
